EL = Ergonomic, Light
Probably the most popular series within the Swarovski stable, especially with bird watchers are their EL Binoculars.
According to Swarovski themselves, EL binoculars combine maximum functionality with innovation and design. Aimed at the very top end of the market, all the binoculars within the series use the finest materials and technology including their own SWAROBRIGHT coating that is said to allow for maximum colour fidelity across the whole light spectrum or the SWAROTOP and SWARODUR coatings for bright, high-contrast images.
The gap in between the two barrels (or the Torsion-free twin-bridge construction as they like to call it), is an innovation which I believe was first introduced by Swarovski and not only gives you a better more comfortable grip, but reduces the weight and makes for an excellently balanced binocular, important for extended observation periods.
Similar to the LotuTech® coating on Carl Zeiss Binoculars and the Leica AquaDuraTM-Coatings, all the binoculars within this series contain a non-stick SWAROCLEAN coating on the outer surfaces of the lenses that makes cleaning both the objective and eyepiece lenses much easier, especially when taking off things like water marks, insect repellents and tree resin. The overall effect is that the lenses require less vigorous cleaning which will significantly increase the life of your optics.
Swarovski EL binoculars also include the new SnapShot adapter for simple connection of a digital camera through your Swarovski lens.
The EL range comes in two different sizes of objective lens, each containing two different strengths of magnification:
Swarovski EL 42 BinocularsBinoculars with 42mm diameter objective lenses are popular because they offer the best compromise between letting in enough light and size (and weight) of binocular, making them suited for kinds of uses. The most common magnifications in this category tend to be 8x and 10x, Swarovski have strayed ever so slightly from the norm here in that they have produced an 8.5x binocular.
Swarovski's EL 42 binoculars have won multiple awards and are often regarded as the best binoculars in the world. A huge claim to fame, but in some ways it is justified because of their outstanding optical quality and clarity. Their legendary wrap-around grip, large focusing wheel and its thumb rests make them light, well balanced, comfortable and good to look at.
EL 42's are a favorite with professional birders and are ideal for many uses, including general wildlife viewing, sports and as general use binoculars.

Swarovski EL 32 BinocularsThe idea behind producing the 32mm diameter versions in the very popular EL series, was to make a pair of binoculars that not only perform well, but are smaller and lighter. The EL 32 have achieved this and with their low weight and smaller size, they can be carried about much easier over longer periods of time. The come with all the same features as their bigger brother, the EL 42's including the user-friendly compact construction that not only sits extremely well in the hand but can be carried in almost any outdoor coat.
Over shorter distances they still offer outstanding observation qualities and are very well suited to observation at close quarters with a sensational close focus setting of only 2 meters.
