Combining 8.5x power with 50mm objective lenses for a large (5.9mm) exit pupil and super high quality optics and coatings means that in these GPO Passion 8.5x50 HD binoculars, you have an instrument that should serve up the brightest possible image, even in very low light.
These standout features make these GPO binoculars, will instantly appeal to hunters, general wildlife observers and birders who are willing to sacrifice a little in terms of size and weight to get the brightest views possible.
The series of GPO Passion HD binoculars series are designed and I think manufactured in Germany and are the product of newcomers to the premium optics scene, German Precision Optics (GPO), who really do look like they are entering the marketplace with a bang.
Below are a couple of the main features and specifications that stand out for me:
High Quality Optics & a Large Exit Pupil
ED glass, fully multi-coated optics with phase corrected, dielectrically coated BaK-4 roof prisms - the combination of top end glass and coatings along with a modest magnification and large objectives really does enhance low light performance.
When you consider most wildlife, be that birds are larger game are usually active at daybreak or late on in the evening, then it just makes sense at times to have a binocular like this in your stable, so long as you are willing to give up a little in terms of size and weight.
High Quality Chassis
Magnesium Chassis, lockable diopter located on the focus wheel., aluminium eye-piece housings and I am sure many other high end features.
Eye-Relief
The 19.5mm of eye-relief is excellent, will especially make those who wear glasses smile
Close Focus
The minimum close focus distance at 6.6ft is also very good for a 10x binocular, although it does fall a little short of the very best. Take the Swarovski 10x42 EL that has a close focus of only 4.9ft.
Field of View
At 315ft wide at 1000yds, for me the width of view is a little disappointing. Now I know it has a slightly lower power, but take for example the similar featured Snypex Knight ED 8x50 binoculars, that provides you with 362ft @ 1000 yards.

What this means is that this GPO Passion HD 8.5x50 Binoculars review is al little shorter and not the usual super in-depth hands-on type of review that you may be used to seeing here on BBR.
This is because I have not had any hands-on time with the product and thus I have not been able to comment on aspects like the build quality or that of the view quality where it would require me to actually handle and use them.
Instead, I have used my experience to form some basic and logical opinions based on research as well as the stated specifications and features supplied my the manufacturers.
