Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 Binoculars

This year I have been actively searching out the Best Black Friday Binocular Deals, but at the same time, debunking deals that I feel are either not genuine or discounting binoculars that I would not recommend you get at any price.

During this research, an interesting deal has come to my attention based around the Vanguard 10x42 Endeavor ED II Binoculars, which I feel is well worth sharing as it shows how you have to be very careful, shop around and don’t make snap purchases for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or indeed any other sale.

So grab your calculators and stick with me as this is somewhat of a meandering story, but by the end, I will show you how and where to get the very best deal on the Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 Binoculars:

1st Deal: Save 19% ($120.00)

I was first drawn to the fact that the Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 binoculars were on sale from Vanguard themselves: They currently have a Black Friday / Holiday promotion on their website with many products offered at up to 20% off.

BUT.. and it is a BIG BUT:

Like many manufacturer websites, their discounts relate to their original recommended retail price (RRP) that they put out when the product is first released.

In this case, the original RRP of the Vanguard 10x42 Endeavor ED II Binoculars is (was) $619.99, so by them offering them at $499.99, yes, you do “save” 19% ($120.00) …off the original RRP (which to be honest, as good as the Endeavor ED II is, I think is too high).

So this is a good start, but I was 100% sure we could do MUCH better:

2nd Deal: Save a Further $100.00 ($220 In Total)

My second port of call was Optics Planet who also have a deal on the 10x42 Vanguard Endeavor ED II Binoculars. here, their offer is 20% off, but Optics Plant has a list price of $499.99, which as we have just seen is the sale price you get on the main Vanguard website, not their original RRP.

So at Optics Planet, you are saving 20% ($100) on the Vanguard Back Friday Sale offer of 499.99, for a total saving of $220 (almost 35%) on the original RRP of $619.99.

So we have got the price down to $399.99 for a great pair of binoculars… many people would stop there assuming that they have found a great deal… But remember it pays to shop around. Optics Planet does currently have some fantastic deals that are simply unbeatable which I have already highlighted on my Black Friday Binocular Deals page… but this is certainly not one of them!

3rd Deal: Save a Further $125.00 ($345 in Total!)

The next stop for me was Adorama, who have dropped the price down to $274.99 – this is massive! Not only that, as you can see by the screen grab I have included above, Adorama will also throw in a free JOBY GorillaPod Starter Kit (“worth” $19.99) as well!

Now I know that the RRP of $619.99 is high, but even so, $274.99 is an excellent price for this level of optics.

So surely we can’t do better… or can we? Remember ALWAYS shop around during sales like Black Friday:

4th Deal: Save $369.99 on the RRP!

Incredibly, I discovered that both B&H and Amazon are offering the Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 Binoculars for only $250!

So whilst the headline above of Save $369.99 is perhaps a little misleading as I doubt anyone other than Vanguard has ever listed the 10x42 Endeavour ED II at the RRP of $619.99, but the final price of $250 for what is a very good mid-to-high range binoculars is truly an excellent deal:

If we take 499.99 to be the real list price, this means they are being offered at a fraction under 50% off that, saving you $249.99 which is still massive.

Even if we take Optics Planet’s price of $399.99, you are saving $149.99 on top of that!

Whatever the price or the saving, the main point I wanted to make in its article is that you should never just take any deal at face value. Shop around and get to know what the going price for a binocular, spotting scope, or indeed anything is, then work out if that product is any good and make your decision from there.
