New: Vortex Razor HD Binoculars

Vortex Razor HD 8x42 BinocularsReleased in 2012, the Vortex Razor HD binoculars are an evolution on their "standard" Razor binoculars and are slightly smaller and lighter. According to Vortex they are also even brighter and stronger. The 2012 Razor HD binoculars come with the best-quality, hand-selected roof prisms and premium HD (High Density) extra low-dispersion glass.

Like the original Razors, the Razor HD’s feature and open bridge design that helps to reduce weight and for me are much easier to hold securely with one hand when walking through difficult terrain like dense bush.

As well as the HD Extra low dispersion glass, other optical highlights include Vortex’s proprietary XR anti-reflective coatings and all lenses are fully multi-coated on all air-to-glass lens surfaces to increase light transmission. Phase corrected BaK-4 prisms are also used that give a sharp and high-contrast image over the full field of view.

Vortex also use dielectric high-reflective multilayer coatings on the roof prism, rather than the aluminum coatings used on cheaper binoculars. The dielectric coating causes the prism surfaces to act as a dielectric mirror and boosts the light reflectivity, giving you clearer whites and a sharper, brighter, more natural vision across the entire field of view.

The Vortex Razor HD Binoculars also their own ArmorTek ultra hard coatings on the exterior lenses to increase their resistance to scratching as well as oil and dirt.

The binoculars have a Magnesium chassis that further reduces weight without compromising strength. The optics are sealed with o-rings to prevent moisture, dust, and debris from getting inside the binocular and filled with argon gas meaning that the internal air has been replaced with argon to ensure there is no internal fogging in areas of high humidity or rapid temperature changes.

Also included is a rainguard, tethered objective lens covers, comfort neck strap and a deluxe padded carry case and the Razor HD’s are also compatible with a tripod adapter (sold separately), allowing use on a tripod or car window mount.
